Adrienne and Dermot are a retired couple, very active and always travelling and on the go. Oscar is Adrienne’s son and is a full-time 3rd-year student of computer science. He spends a lot of time away at his girlfriend’s place. The room is bright and cosy, featuring a king-size bed, a study desk, a chair, and ample closet space. Stoneybatter has a strong village feel despite being very close to the city centre. It’s known for a friendly, tight-knit community, and artsy, slightly bohemian vibe, lots of locals who’ve lived there for generations, mixed with younger professionals and students. It’s often described as relaxed, quirky, and full of character. The neighbourhood is packed with independent cafés and bakeries, well-loved pubs (some traditional, some modern), Small restaurants with a mix of Irish and international food, and Local shops rather than big-chain retail. It’s a place where you can walk to nearly everything. Living in Stoneybatter means a short walk or bike ride to the city centre; it’s close to Smithfield, Grangegorman Campus (TUD), and Phoenix Park, one of the largest city parks in Europe, which is a huge bonus for walking, running, or weekend picnics. There is good public transport via buses and the Luas (Red Line). We live five minutes from the Museum of Decorative Arts. Housing tends to be primarily small, red-brick terraced houses, with some apartments located near Smithfield and Grangegorman. The vibe is overall laid-back, slightly hipster, full of history, and very walkable....
